This decision was strategic, as it allowed Ogbonmwan to serve in a capacity that would oversee and check the powers of the Iyase, effectively acting as a watchful guardian or "watch cat" to ensure that the Iyase's authority was exercised responsibly and in the best interests of the Kingdom.
